Jeff Powers
With co-founder Vikas Reddy, Jeff led the development of RedLaser, the iPhone's most successful barcode scanning application. After selling over two-million copies, Occipital sold RedLaser to eBay in June, but remained independent to focus on new computer vision technologies. Since then, the company has released ClearCam, a multiframe resolution-enhancing app, and 360 Panorama, an app that makes panorama capture instantaneous.
SESSION(S): From Jenga to Augmented Reality: CoreMotion and the Gyroscope
Steve Jobs' Jenga demo at the iPhone 4 unveiling was just scratching the surface. The Gyroscope in the iPhone 4 multiplies the types of motion control that are possible for App Store games and user interfaces in general. Sitting on top of the 3-axis Gyroscope is CoreMotion, a new unified motion control framework that simplifies access to raw gyroscope and accelerometer data.In this session, you'll learn how to access and interpret the gyroscope's raw and filtered outputs and how to use them for game controls and Augmented Reality (AR) interfaces. We'll do some live demonstrations of using the gyroscope to control OpenGL graphics, and see how it is used to improve realtime panorama capture in 360 Panorama. Now is the time to get your hands dirty with CoreMotion. Also shipping in the 4th gen iPod Touch, it's safe to say that the Gyroscope is here to stay.
